After eight years of searching, NASA has discovered THE PHENOMENAUTS, on their very own home planet. The band was honored with a VIP tour of NASA's Houston headquarters last week, which included meetings with astronauts, scientists, and hands-on experience with space station parts and training facilities.
The song "Infinite Frontier" (from the band's brand new full length, For All Mankind) will be brought on board The International Space Station as part of the upcoming STS-124 mission, where it will be played for the crew's first wake up.
Wake-up calls are a long-standing tradition of the NASA program. Each day during the mission, flight controllers in the Mission Control Center will greet the crew with an appropriate musical interlude. The track asks "All the way from the bottom of the ocean to the upper atmosphere, there are astronomical possibilities, so why should we stop here?" and demands that we "Press onward!"
THE PHENOMENAUTS met with Mark E. Kelly who will be commanding the STS-124 shuttle mission to deliver the Pressurized Module and robotic arm of the Japanese Experiment Module, known as "Kibo" (hope), to The International Space Station.
Linear notes for the band's previous album, Re-Entry, state that it is dedicated to the brave men and women of NASA. Now, these scientists are finally aware of their admiration.
THE PHENOMENAUTS have been invited back to NASA's Houston headquarters for an extended tour and to shoot a music video for the song "Heroes" about the men, women, and animals that lived and died to advance our planet's space program.
Stay tuned as THE PHENOMENAUTS debut the animated music-video for "Infinite Frontier" next week, a collaboration with Emmy Award-winning animation writer RICH FOGEL (Justice League, Batman Beyond, Transformers: Animated) and animator ERICA HENDERSON (Venture Brothers/Astrobase Go).
BE EXCITED!!!
Science And Honor, =Command and Control= ::End Transmission::
I don't know of many bands who have fans as enthusiastic and dedicated as the Phenomenauts do. Maybe Kiss, but fuck those guys, seriously. We are far superior and far handsomer. Lets see someone make a video as wacky-awesome for them as this.
lolwut? totally awesome is wut!
Speaking of Phenomenauts fans have you been onto the Phenomenauts Message board? The mighty K4 and her loyal cofidonts have constructed a shiny new message board you could take home to meet mom and if you dig The Phenomenauts you should sign up and get with the in crowd of hardcore web-savvy cadets. The Phenomenauts have been confirmed as headliner for the local band stage at Live 105's big outdoor BFD festival at Shoreline Amphitheater June 7th! Last time I went to BFD, AFI was headlining this stage, and this year's show has a great line-up with some of our favorite bands like Alkaline Trio and Flogging Molly.
Major thanks to Live 105, and tons of radio stations across the country, for playing The Phenomenauts new album. As an independent record label run out of a tiny apartment, we think it is especially extra awesome of these folks to give us a chance and be so nice. And thank YOU for calling in and requesting The Phenomenauts, it really does help.
Stay tuned for word of a top secret Philadelphia show Saturday May 3rd. Details are still under wraps, but there will be an unannounced appearance by a pretty awesome and huge band that we are friends with. Also coming next month, a brand new animated video...
Holy fuck, The Phenomenauts CD release show at Slims in SF this past Saturday was incredible! Vic from The Slackers played a surprise set with our very own Jimmy Boom on drums, King Kukulele cracked everyone up on his tiny guitar, Maldroid and The Lovemakers rocked as usual, then The Phenomenauts came out with a whole new stage show and tons of new songs. This was an incredibly fun night, thanks to everyone who came out, and sorry to those of you who waited in line for hours and still couldn't get in -- we're working on a way to make it up to you right now.
My new favorite shirt ever, and the first ever Silver Sprocket shirt! This artwork is by our friend Zach Trover featuring the best president ever being totally awesome with a sword! We printed just one dozen in each size, white ink on black American Apparel. Buy it quick or be fucked! $15

National headlining tour April 17 to May 24 all over the USA!
Be prepared as The Phenomenauts help keep us focused and guide us through the turbulent waters of what the future might become. If we follow their lead, things might turn out alright.
We're famous! Check out yours-truly along with The Phenomenauts making a guest appearance in our friend Dominic's web-comic: The Rock N Roll Palace of Love! I hear we get to fight zombies.
I'm Eoin and I'm hijacking this here website for a dearly needed update. We're sorry this hasn't come sooner but Avi was hit by a speeding volcano and can't do it, very sad. Send all flowers, tofu and pipe bombs to 2308 P St, #9, Sacramento California 95816.
In actual nooze, we are completely sold out of Phenomenauts officer jackets in all sizes except for small for the time being. Sorry sport. The back-ordered Mitch Clem shirts will finally arrive sometime this week and there will be a massive mail-order orgy fueled by stir fry and red hot orange juice so you can all finally get the shirts you have waited ever so diligently for. Wednesday nudity will return once we actually find some nudity, our apologies to 13 year olds worldwide.
Howd everyone's Halloween go? Did you go to phenomenauts zombie party? That thing was way rad, there's pictures on the Silver Sprocket myspace which by the way you should add. Send us links to any pictures you took!
HEY! Check this out! Nothing Nice To Carve! huh? aint that neat? Fuck off I think so.
I'm obviously not on my A game because I got a few swift kicks in the brain at Dannys Secretions lame ass birthday bash (don't wear combat boots if you plan on crowd surfing you cocks) so once I collect a respectable collection of pictures ill give you a review of that gala event.
Make your best Silver Sprocket related Jack O'Lantern and win some candy! Seriously, it's against the post-office rules to send sweets by mail AND WE DON'T EVEN CARE!
Here's a Phenomenauts pumpkin from Erica Henderson, with real Morse code!
Speaking of Halloween, check out the Secretions looking all dead like The Ramones from their recent trip to Portland!
Kepi, formerly of The Groovie Ghoulies, performing "Fun In The Dark" with The Phenomenauts! Kepi looks mighty dashing in his Officer Jacket. Thanks to Hans for the video from The Phoenix Theatre, September 22, 2007.
October 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of Sputnik-1. The momentous launch was far from being part of a well-planned strategy to demonstrate communist superiority over the West. Instead, the first artificial satellite in space was a spur-of-the-moment gamble driven by the dream of one scientist, whose team scrounged a rocket, slapped together a satellite and persuaded the Kremlin to open the space age. -A.P.
The Phenomenauts are commemorating this turning point in human civilization by unveiling our Latest flagship, The P.S.S. Hawking Cruiser. The maiden voyage on this months Western U.S. Tour will re-open the space age. (special 'Sputnik Mission' badge available at these shows.)

Springman Records is fucking dead. Long live Silver Sprocket.
LOTS going on right now in the world of the Secretions.
Paul had his birthday party at The Boardwalk and got completely trashed and forgot how to play all his songs, jumped around with a silly hat on and spit a lot making it a great party fun time!
The Secretions just self-released a new record called The Rock-N-Roll Three-way with their friends Final Summation and Last Chance. Three songs from each band, it very seriously rips, on their very own Drool City Records and available through Springman Mail-order RIGHT HERE.
Another very big Secretions project is in the works, I'll tell you all about that on Monday... Along with some very exciting news for you collector geeks on The Phenomenauts and Big D And The Kids Table!

The PLASTIC shows this past weekend were stellar! The Phenomenauts got to debut a new gadget, The Kitten Cannon, basically a large gun that shoots stuff everywhere (like confetti, glitter, pixie-sticks or whatever we feel like shoving in there). It has been a well-kept secret that many of The Phenomenauts' best ideas are actually stolen from The Teenage Harlets, and the Kitten Cannon is no exception, built strong enough to "launch a kitten through another kitten." We meant to make two of them, but during construction, Atom (The Harlets drummer) accidentally blew one up and may have permanently damaged his hearing in the process. Whoops.
K4 took an ass-ton of pictures, most of which I don't understand or remember.
Thank-you to everyone who came out for these wacky shows, and thanks to The Phenomenauts, Epoxies, Groovie Ghoulies, Teenage Harlets and Rock N Roll Adventure Kids for making everything so ridiculous and fun!!!
Big D And The Kids Table were fucking awesome at The Fillmore on Thursday night as part of their current tour with Anti Flag!
Remember this one from a few years back? I am just SO FUNNY!!! Sorry. Anyway,
Big D's latest album, Strictly Rude on Side One Dummy Records, blows my mind. I haven't felt this way about a ska record since hearing Op Ivy's Energy and Less Than Jake's Pezcore for the first time. Here is a stream of the first track, Steady Riot, it reminds me of Sound System and Soundcheck (funny how similar those song-names are), click play!
The Fillmore was where my friends and I would go to see our favorite gigantic bands years and years ago. I usually wouldn't care about shit like this, but I am just so incredibly stoked to see my bands playing on that legendary stage, and felt plenty of vicarious pride as the kids standing behind me were yelling out song from albums I helped release.
PLASTIC!!! A Night of 80's Punk Rock and New Wave... besides your favorites bands own songs they will cover a few 80's songs that they will never repeat...awesome...

The Phenomenauts are touring this April and May with THE SLACKERS!!! I'll post the dates as soon as I can, hopefully tonight. Be excited, we have some nice surprises in store for this tour.
School started this week so I've been behind on website updates, but not on mail-order! The post office is getting sick of seeing me every day and has been making me put stamps on all the packages by hand. The Tera Melos pre-orders have been sent but may take up to a week since most of you ordered with "Media Mail" shipping. It took a week to send them all since they're very securely wrapped in cardboard to avoid damage, sorry to keep you waiting but this one will be worth it! E-mail the address listed up on the top of this website if you have any questions on that.
Some quick updates:
The Springman Records showcase in Sacramento on Friday was a huge success and lots of fun, thank you all for coming out! I especially enjoyed handing out cupcakes and shark-themed 3D glasses to everyone before The Phenomenauts' set, even though the 3D glasses had nothing to do with anything. The Shecretions built some AMAZING games out of cardboard that we didn't get to use since it was so crowded and I was on crutches, but I saved them in my closet and will bring them out to future events so you can throw the red rocket in the black hole and blast Skelator! Hopefully they'll also be into setting up the Kissing-Booth...
Tera Melos is on tour with The Fall Of Troy and running out of merch.
Big D And The Kids Table's pre-order for the Brain Failure split starts in.. Shit, 15 minutes, I better set that up, check back in an hour.
The Phenomenauts, Teenage Harlets, Groovie Ghoulies and Epoxies have something epic up their sleeve that I'll tell you about later.
Jason Webley is in Europe.
And get comfortable with the idea of your favorite record of 2007 being called Huge Black Man just so this doesn't catch you off-guard once it finally drops.
Seriously guys, over 10,000 people read this website each week. "Unique Visitors" it says. Meaning, only 0.01% of you post comments. And when you do, it's not about the rock-n-roll, its about nerdy fantasy books. Thanks, really, this experiment with comments is going well. == Springman showcase Friday in Sacramento! With games and prizes! == Saturday in Petaluma! This will also be a video shoot so wear your Sci-Fi best and drink some Sparks in the parking lot!
I just found some fun interviews with a whole bunch of our bands over at Sound Scene Revolution. For your listening pleasure and entertainment, listen to their chats with The Phenomenauts, Tera Melos and Jason Webley. Their other interviews are pretty kick-ass too with a ton of my favorite bands, this website will keep me from being at all productive for the rest of this week == I talked to someone at PBS months ago about YouTube. It looks like they just pulled a quote from that conversation for a blog post about the future of the music industry on their "MediaShift" website. Not terribly exciting, but my parents will be happy to see my name on PBS. == This isn't punk rock at all, but my favorite book series of recent memory, the Song Of Ice And Fire cycle by George RR Martin, is being turned into a TV series by HBO and I am way super excited in the nerdy'est way possible. Read that shit if you want something way better than that Lord Of The Rings total bullshit. Start with "A Game Of Thrones" which is $3.99 on Amazon.com and everywhere else with the latest printing.
This is an old picture, but still awesome. On 9/16/06 at Bottom Of The Hill, Johnny Dismal of The Teenage Harlets came up to sing a Phenomenauts song! It was pretty ridiculous, he wasn't being a rockstar crowd-surfing, he really was to drunk to stand up by himself.
The Phenomenauts have just a few shows left before they head back into training for their next epic voyage for this Spring and Summer. Sectors being visited this last time around include Petaluma, Santa Cruz, Sacramento, New York City and Oakland:

They play first, so get there early! We will be bringing the real Black Parade. If you don't have $35, don't worry, we'll post it on YouTube. I'm excited about seeing Gnarles Barkley and MCR.

3. Livin' On A Prayer, as performed by Jason Webley and The Dresden Dolls, with bonus philosophical discussion:
Clicky clicky and leave some nice comments! It looks like a handful of the myspace.com jocks don't really get it, but plenty of people seem to like it and are saying very kind things. I calculated that 200 people are watching the video every seven minutes.

Stay tuned to Tera Melos' myspace page for more news and tour updates.
The Secretions are in the running to play the "Twisted Christmas" show at the Arco Arena in Sacramento! The River City Rebels just got back from a very strange national fly-away tour of free shows paid for by a big evil cigarette company. Stay tuned for more news on that. Listen on their MySpace page!
The Rum Diary has been laying low, but has a brand new drummer and will start playing again next month! Stay tuned for news on that too. And check out their limited edition four-way-split 7" with The Jade Shader, Facing New York, and Years Around The Sun!!! Visit them too on MySpace. And check out Daniel's almost finished solo-project, Identical Homes, its panty-dropping music.
*PHEW* I think that’s it for now. Our records are still in heavy rotation at the Sacramento post office down-town.
Hot on the heels of their first national headlining tour, The Phenomenauts have announced some local shows along with ten dates in November with ska heavyweights The Toasters.
Also announced is The Phenomenauts annual "Halloween Zombie Party" on October 27th, and a show the band is hosting but not playing with The Briefs, both being hosted by their Command Center in West Oakland.
Here are their upcoming tour dates:
10/13/2006
Oakland
CA
Commnand Center
The Briefs, Teenage Harlets, Rock And Roll Adventure Kids -- NOT A PHENOMENAUTS SHOW
Monday September 4th 12 Noon, 6pm and 9pm All Times Eastern
Space traveling psychobilly heroes THE PHENOMENAUTS take time off from their first ever national headlining tour to jack the Fungus 53 studios during three different segments of the show HEE HAW HELL. Like a 1950's sci-fi film come to life, THE PHENOMENAUTS live show and songs about rockin' robots, hot rod rockets and sizzling space sexpots are the stuff of interstellar legend. Check 'em out as they dock their Phenoma-Bomber to the XM satellites for the very first time.
We kicked things off at the San Diego Comic Book Convention with a sold-out show at The House Of Blues where The Phenomenauts got to open for our heroes in Supernova (the real deal, not to be confused with a shitty reality-show hair-metal band. You might remember them from that "Whata Wookie" song in Clerks). Funny story, CBS sent them a "cease and desist" letter as if their shitty super-group realty-show was somehow more important and had dibs on the name. Anyway, CBS is fucked, the real Supernova has been around since 1989 and has filed a counter-suit. The show also re-united us with our old tour-buddies The Aquabats.
There has been some talk lately about a Phenomenauts cartoon series, and at the convention we got to rub elbows with a bunch of cartoon people including folks at Disney, Warner Brothers and Fox along with the creative forces behind some of our favorite shows like Futerama and The Simpsons! Here is a picture with the creators of The Venture Brothers doing the Phenomenauts' salute:
Another highlight was hanging out at The Zombie Lounge and getting to see a band called Killer Robots, whose body armor is made from the same material as The Phenomenauts' Bomber. See if you can spot them, they are kind of camouflage against the van:
And these nerds were hanging out behind the convention center all weekend dressed up like knights and using swords to beat the shit out of each other:
All in all, it was an amazing weekend. Thanks to all the cadets who came out and made us feel welcome at the convention!
The Secretions song Fuckin Zombies can be heard on the AVN Award winning porn Re-Penetrator, which won the award for most outrageous sex scene! Visit the Secretions myspace page for a bunch of tour dates with label-mates The Teenage Harlets.
In other news,
The Phenomenauts will be hanging out at the San Diego Comic Book Convention this year! If you are going, wear your Phenomenauts shirt, and we will give you an exclusive badge when we see you that you can only get at the convention. The Phenomenauts will also be playing Friday night at the San Diego House Of Blues with The Aquabats and Supernova!

Mail-order update: Springman Mail-order is on hold until June 21st, so for now, visit www.interpunk.com or your favorite online mail-order, and send us an e-mail if there is anything you can't find. We have been a bit slow with mail-order since moving to Sacramento earlier this year, so we are going to make sure it is back to being a well oiled super-fast machine before we bring it back. If you are still waiting on an order for anything other than Pain's Jabberjaw CD, PLEASE send me an e-mail so we can take care of that (and if you're waiting on the Pain disc, we will have them back in stock soon!)
Lots more exciting things are in the works, stay tuned for updates. Come back over the next few days for everyone's updated summer tour dates. And thanks again for all your support!
You probably know them from their extensive touring with Springman bands like The Groovie Ghoulies, Phenomenauts, Secretions, Jason Webley, and their spot on our Space Station stage on the Warped Tour a few years back.. But just incase, check out their page on MySpace.com or read about them right here:
The TEENAGE HARLETS don't play rock & roll -- they play danger. Flying a defiant finger in the face of the San Francisco garage scene since 1999, TEENAGE HARLETS style rock has no tiresome monologs, no politics, no talking, no tuning, no fancy knobs or effects. They play revved up, stripped down, non-stop short attention-span surf-garage-punk-rock-mayhem that will have you singing and dancing while you run for your life. Worried? No need to fear. Thanks to Springman Records and the latest in garage-based recording technology, you can dance along in the relative safety of your own home as the HARLETS tear through 22 songs in 30 minutes on their new record, Up the Fixx, in stores July 11thJuly 25th, 2006.
In other news,
This will probably be the ONLY Groovie Ghoulies show this year: I really don't know what they're thinking letting the Secretions play this family event.
AND, We just updated the Tour Dates page, lots of new shows for the entire Springman family.
The Phenomenauts performed an out-of-this-world set on New Years Eve to a sold out audience at The Fillmore, opening up for Les Claypool! Please e-mail us if you have any pictures from the show.
Hot off the press is the brand new re-issue of Pain's final full-length CD, Full Speed Ahead!
This album is just as mind boggle'ingly awesome as Wonderful Beef and Midgets With Guns, tons of energy and fun with clever lyrics and an improved production value. This has been out of print for the better part of this year since Vegas Records went dormant, an addition to the Springman catalog that I've been fanaticizing about for quite some time. It is absolutely vital that you own this album, it won't be in stores until March or April so mail-order your copy today and get an extras for all your emo friends who need some cheer!
In other news, The Phenomenauts are playing New Years Eve with Les Claypool of Primus at The Fillmore in San Francisco! This is going to be completely ridiculous. We would also like to congratulate The Phenomenatus on getting a new booking agent, being Amy of The Rockport Agency, formerly of Leave Home Booking.
And finally, New Jersey emo-punk pioneers (and predecessor to Day At The Fair) Lanemeyer have some reunion shows scheduled for the end of this year in NJ and MA. Visit their tour dates page for the info.
I should also let you know that we are parting ways with RED Distribution as of December 31st and heading for greener pastures. We will announce our new distribution deal within the next few weeks, but to any retailers paying attention, our catalog remains available from our wonderful independent distributors: Revolver, Choke, Lumberjack Mordam, Independent One Stop, Cargo, and RevHQ.
And, Happy Hanukah! I hope you got everything that you wanted this year.
The Phenomenauts are opening for Les Claypool at The Fillmore for New Years! Get your tickets quick, this sells out every year. I find this especially interesting since The Phenomenauts used to play illegal "commando" shows right outside The Fillmore when shows were getting out, and would keep playing until threatened with arrest...
As their first foray into the world of children's books, The Phenomenauts appear along-side Weird Al, Blues Traveler, Hootie And The Blowfish and The Spin Doctors in the new book+CD, Dog Train: A Wild Ride on the Rock-and-Roll Side, performing songs by Grammy award winning author Sandra Boynton. The Phenomenauts' contribution to the project is the track (Don't Give Me That) Broccoli.
P.S. Tera Melos has a NEW WEBSITE. They are on tour right now, and the big home-coming show will be on December 8th at The Boardwalk (Sacramento/Orangvalle) with The (International) Noise Conspiracy!
Phenomenauts News: If you have that "On Demand" cable-TV thing, look up The Phenomenauts! We are getting word from around the country that a video of their entire performance from the 2004 Chicago Warped Tour show is up on that right now!
Tino Pride Part 2: See, I wasn't making this up!!! There is a rad article about the historic South Bay/San Jose skate-punk scene in the new issue of Metro, read it here.

We at Springman Records are proud to announce a Big D And The Kids Table music video that is for a song other than "Little Bitch." Available now on Launch.com, link:[My Girlfriend's On Drugs], from the album How It Goes! This video was shot in Boston by Pearl Wible of the Emerson College Film Department! This video was shot on film, then banned from MTV and ten billion other places for the drug use...
