7/24/2008: Trials Of ComiCon

Where to start? At the beginning I suppose. I get a text from Avi saying that he has some extra passes for Comicon 2008, a few people have flaked and I should go. I'm really broke, but I technically don't have any plans or work for the next week, so I figure, why not? It's tuesday night and the van is leaving at 8, the text says. So i figure, why the hell not? I've never ever been to Comicon and I've heard it's a blast. So I throw some stuff into my tour duffle and off we go.

Little did I know that this would be an epic adventure, with many trials along the way. The first trial of Comicon: How to fit six people and six bikes into a small Chrysler minivan. I'm known to my friends and bandmates as the "Tetris master," having learned from my truck-loading stagehand dad how to fit tons of cargo into a tiny space. I made it work. Don't ask me how, it's kind of like one of those Mary Poppins magic-bag tricks. Six bikes along with Eoin Gridrat, Liz Lemmies, Samantha Marie, Danny Admission, Avi and myself are crammed into the Chrysler. Ten hours later, we are in San Diego, having arrived at the home of our gracious and lovely hostess, Amber Glossine. For some reason she has allowed six smelly punk rockers to take over her living room for a week. We took our bikes because (according to Avi she lives two miles from the convention center and we want to save money and not have to take cabs or deal with parking. Two miles my ass! Which brings us to:

The second trial of Comicon: A FIVE mile bicycle ride over some of the hilliest terrain south of San Francisco. You know those exercise bike programs where it gives you different resistance so it feels like you are going up and down hills for twenty minutes? Try that for real in eighty-five degree weather. Ouch. I had to walk up some of those hills, but we made it. We found a place to lock our bikes and sent Avi inside to get the passes. This was Wednesday, the first unofficial day of Comicon, with the only event being a preview day for the "professional" attendees. We were "professional" because we were with Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club. After we got the passes we found a nearby Ralphs supermarket and got a bite to eat. We were all doing this on a budget so we needed to save money any way possible. We needed nourishment because at 6pm we were to face our next trial:

The third trial of Comicon: The mad rush for free stuff! All the major comic and motion picture companies give away free stuff to directly market to their fanbase, and it's first come first serve. According to Avi many people pay their admission for next year's Con by selling all the free stuff they get on Ebay. There is a LOT of free stuff. WB was giving away free oversize bags that were the size of a movie poster just to hold it all. Of course, on the side of this movie poster-sized bag was, you guessed it, a movie poster! Some had ads for dvds like Veronica Mars and Buffy The Vampire Slayer, others had Wonder Woman posters on them. I experienced a mad dash for bags when I was trying to get the Wonder Woman bag that made feel feel sad for the human race. I was in a line for bags that was promptly ignored by all the Fanboys clamoring for free shit. Slowly a bigger and bigger crowd gathered, outstretched arms and cries of "over here!" This quickly gave way to pushing and shoving, which turned to arguing and cries of "Hey, stop pushing! Ow! Stop!" I saw grown men pushing aside small girls to get a lousy fucking plastic Wonder Woman bag. Sad. By the time I got up to the end of the line all the bags had been taken by the greedy pushing Fanboys and the crowd was getting seriously out of control, but I couldn't go anywhere because the crowd had me trapped. The WB booth employees looked afraid for their lives, rightfully so, for it looked like they were about to be crushed by the Fanboy throngs pushing against the counter. Finally an announcement came over the PA system for the booth (yes the booth was so huge it has it's own public address system). "Thank you for your interest in Warner Brothers products, we are sorry to announce that our giveaways are over for today." Nice going greedy Fanboys, you fucked it up for everyone. Every once in a while I'm reminded of my hatred for the human race in general. I finally broke free of the whining Fanboy crowd and went to find my friends and further explore the exhibit hall floor.

The exhibit hall floor is amazing. Here are a few things you can see there: A giant Castle Greyskull playset . A full size Jabba the Hutt statue. Actual size Transformer hand. Full size Lego sculptures of Batman and Indiana Jones. Actual size evil Iron Man suit from the movie. Actual size, fully detailed interior hover ship from the Watchmen movie. Nerd Herd car. Tons of costumed.....whatever. It's truly amazing, and the Con (as it is affectionatley referred to) hasn't even started yet. I'm about to leave for more adventures right now for the first official day of Comicon 2008. Who konws what trials await? This is Mickie Rat, signing off, saying as I feel I should, "EXCELSIOR!" Stay tuned dear readers, for more adventures await!

6/11/2008: Friday the 13th - Secretions Take Over Sacramento

The Secretions will be adding another stop to their MEDIA BLITZ TOUR this Friday! They will be special guests on the inaugural return show for PUNK ROCK ACADEMY on KWOD 106.5 FM this Friday at noon.

Let's reiterate:

7am... MY58 TV Morning Show (cable channel 4) - between 7am and 9am, they're going to play like 45 seconds of a song each time the program cuts to commercial. I can't wait to see the uncomfortable looks on the poor anchor people's faces when they realize what they've gotten themselves into.

noon... KWOD 106.5 FM - I don't know if they're playing or just interviewing, but I know they'll have consumed enough caffeine by this time that at least two of them will be squirming in their seats trying not to shit their pants.

2pm... KXJZ 90.9 FM - I honestly have NO FUCKING IDEA what the FUCK is happening with this one. I've tried to find them on a schedule or flyer or ANYTHING and can't find anything. This schedule (if I'm even looking at the right website) says that 2pm on Friday is devoted to "A daily, in-depth interview program hosted by KXJZ's Jeffrey Callison, providing context and background to the issues that face our region." Hmmm...doesn't sound very - uh - Secretiony. I also heard a rumor that my landlord, ex-Sacramento Bee local music writer, is going to be the one interviewing them, but have found no evidence to back that up. WTF?

5pm... Concert In The Park - This is going to be HUGE. Roach (former Groovie Ghoulie) has started a new band called Baby! with former Riff Randall, Kortnee, and Scampi (also former Ghoulie).

Tom H, Jessi Ramone, Skott, and Cary Rodda has combined their superpowers into one band, the No Goodniks. I caught the end of them at the BFD and they're like Queensbury Rules, now with 30% more ROCKNROLL.

And who could forget Final Summation? Last Saturday hey had the release show for the brand new bitchin' album, A New Approach, and they will be selling it at the park show for $10. If you can, bring $20 instead so you can donate $10 to the production of a documentary about their experiences on tour. If you've picked up the latest Alive & Kicking, you know just how "juicey" those experiences can be.

I don't know for certain, but I heard a rumor that the Secretions will be performing a cover by some band called...oh, what was it? Something like "Screaming Ferret" or "Squeaking Walrus" or something. Anyway, I also heard tell of a certain former Knockoff joining them onstage.
[+/-] show/hide the rest of this post

Don't forget to bring a little bit of extra cash so you can purchase something from Deranged Designs, should you see something that suits your fancy...which you probably will.

If you miss this show, I give you permission to just go ahead and end your own life. No one will think less of you for it.

9pm...Old Ironsides - Everyone is going to be delirious, wasted, and hallucinating by this time. If you are over 21, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you haul your cookies down 10th street after the park show to Old Ironisdes. If you're already drunk and/or lazy, you can call Yellow Cab at (916) 444-2222 and get to Old I for like $6 or so, less if you carpool and split the fare. And when you get there, they have $2 PBRs. What more do you need in life? Nothing.
Like I said last time I wrote about this, Danny is going to get emotional and overwhelmed by around 10:30 or so and start hugging people. If they day went really well, he might even cry a little, or at least slobber on your neck when he hugs you (some of you might remember being slobbered on at the SOS BBQ last June).

If you aren't 21 yet, just do what the early Secretins used to do...have a picnic. We'd order a pizza, bring some twelve packs of soda, and some blankets and listen to the show from outside.

Sometimes we'd play spin the bottle or Truth or Dare to entertain ourselves. Actually, that's how we met Little Ian. We groped him on a dare. The band members would come out and hang out with us a little, as well as a lot of our 21+ friends. Even though we couldn't SEE the show, we still always had a fucking blast.

Sometimes the bouncers would even let us use the bathroom (but not always and there is nowhere open nearby, so bring some toilet paper and be prepared to squat in the parking lot) or open the door for a few minutes so we could hear better. As long as you pick up all the trash you bring with you and don't cause problems, they won't give you trouble.

WAYS TO GET IN TROUBLE: try to sneak in, arrive drunk, try to drink out front, harass the bouncers, fight, pester people, cause problems with traffic. Don't do any of these, or I'll hit you.

In short, wear comfortable shoes and drink lots of water (or Jolt). It's going to be a LOOOOOOONG fucking day.

- Xtal Case

4/15/2008: Viva La Lucha Libre! Secretions + Chikara!

Like beer and waffles, our very own Secretions go so well with wrestling that taking Darwin seriously becomes increasingly difficult.

While we can never quite figure out the relationship between Danny Secretion and El Flaco Loco, once of Incredibly Strange Wrestling and now of Supreme Pro Wrestling, the band has performed live at PunkSlam Pro Wrestling in 2007, and even got thrown around a little at a North American Wrestling event, earning a shot the NAW Myspace Championship as seen in this ridiculous video right here:

The Secretions are at it once again, and will be working with CHIKARA, a prominent Philadelphia-based pro wrestling promotion known for ignoring the laws of gravity and physics with wrestling moves no Cirque du Soleil performer would ever consider attempting, as their song "Viva La Lucha Libre" will be the theme to the huge "Rey de Voladores" show scheduled for this summer.

Check out the world premiere of the trailer, just posted on YouYube.com moments ago:

The Secretions will also be recording a theme song specifically for this company, and will be working with various wrestlers in coming up with personalized entrance themes! You may even see the band making its way to the city of brotherly love to unleash some Lucha-Mania!

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. Viva La Lucha Libre can be heard on the Secretions latest album, Faster Than The Speed Of Drunk!

3/31/2008: Tour update from Danny Secretion!

Danny Secretion's solo tour is just wrapping up with a big homecoming show in Sacramento TONIGHT at The Javalounge!

Here is a tour update from Danny by way of Crystal at the Secretin Life Line:

Stories from the Road

Danny wrote me an email with some pictures of tour and a brief rundown of what happened each day...here is it! From the looks of it, they're having a fucking blast!

March 20th...Blackwater Cafe / Stockton CA
Opening the show was Ladybird from France. I was confused because one of them had an Australian accent. Nonetheless, amazing people. Touchy Feelies played next. It was awesome to catch up with Scampi again! Self Destroyer played next and filled the room with testosterone. Nice guys though. I was super nervous until a secretin by the name of Liz showed up and showed love and support! YAY FOR STOCKTON!

[+/-] READ MORE

March 21st...Vinny's Bar / Bakersfield CA
On the way to the show I hawked the biggest loogie of my life while sitting in the passenger seat. Unfortunately, the laws of aerodynamics didn't comply with me as I left about a quart of DNA on the passenger door. YUM! The bar looked like something you would have seen in the Patrick Swayze classic "Roadhouse". Lots of mullets from both sides of the gender here. I played "Made In Japan" by Mr. Buck Owens and the crowd was putty in my hands from then on. The Filthies played and blew the fucking roof off the joint! The Runaway Strays closed out the show and even let me sing a Misfits number with them. Awesome bands! Expect to see them coming to Sacramento soon. The drummer from The Filthies, Gup, is quite possibly the nicest guy who can kick anyone's ass. My new friend Heath from the band The In-Denials wins the Awesome-Guy-Setting-Up-A-Show-For-A-Touring-Artist-Award.

March 22nd...The Tower Bar / San Diego CA
Erin and I got to see our good friends Chris & Melissa. I was super excited to go back to The Tower Bar as it is one of my favorite stops on tour. Opening the show was a kick ass band called Idiot Box. The Rich White Males took the stage next and more than lived up to my Johnny Ramone-esque expectations. I had a blast playing for the drunken crowd. I played "Silly Girl" by The Desendents for my friends Chris and Melissa. Chris is a Marine who is going to be out for at least 7 months. Hang in there Melissa! An added bonus to this show was a surprise set by The Bugs which features Dave from The Queers. It was great to see him and I was super excited that he remembered me.

March 23rd...Sultana Bar / Williams AZ
To sum up this drunken evening, Erin and I took drinks everytime a grumpy old guy playing pool swore. Needless to say, we were shammered withing 30 minutes! Erin chased me through the streets of Wiliams afterwards.

March 24th...The Ruby Room / Phoenix AZ
WHAT A FUCKING DAY! We started off by having the world's best breakfast burrito and then walked around downtown Williams AZ for a couple of hours. We found a killer tourist stop that has a lifesize version of Bedrock. Erin and I ran around like two sugar-charged kids.

Then we made our way to the GRAND CANYON. Holy shit. If that wonder of nature doesn't make you well up with tears, you aren't a fucking human being! On our way to Phoenix, we actually saw a bunch of snow. We pulled over and kicked each other's asses in a snowball fight. I lost a shoe. Erin had snow in her butt crack. We stopped in Flagstaff for dinner.

We arrived in Phoenix AZ at about 8pm and set up our merch table in the fabulous Ruby Room. The bartender was AWESOME and I was very much looking forward to this show because also on the bill were The Hobo Gobblins from Oakland CA. This band features Dan from Bobby Joe Ebola & The Children McNuggets. Unfortunately, opening the show was about 10 stand-up comics from The Phoenix AZ area.

Let me say this first and foremost, I think stand-up comics are very talented individuals WHEN THEY HAVE SOMETHING FUNNY TO SAY. With the exception of two comics (The guy with the "sticker-bear" and then the guy who I blinded with our car lights in the parking lot), these fuckers have absolutely no right to stand on stage with a mic in their hands. I'm sorry but a joke that states "I call my girlfriend Lumpy. Not because she's fat, but because she has breast cancer" only makes me want to connect a rubber hose from my car exhaust to your fucking face. Take heed fans of stand-up comedy...if the comic you are going to see hails from Phoenix AZ, chances are he or she sucks royally.

I played after these Couldn't-Get-Laid-In-A-Whore-House-With-A-Fist-Full-Of-Twenty-Dollar-Bills-So-Called-Comics. I was very happy with the members of the audience who sat back and listened and enjoyed. As far as the comics, they can choke on a big fat hunk of karma for all I care. I finished the set with a cover of The Toys Dolls' "Dougy Giro" and dedicated it to The Hobo Gobblins.

After my set, the bartender played Toy Dolls on the PA. Once again, the bartender at The Ruby Room kicks major league ass! The Hobo Gobblins did nothing but make this evening a golden treat. If you are a fan of Jason Webley, you will LOVE The Hobo Gobblins! I will do everything I can to bring this amazing troupe of talented individuals to Sacramento.

After the show, we sold some shirts, made some gas money from the bar and headed out for an evening of beer drinking and camping.

See the rest of the pictures here.

3/09/2008: Danny Secretion Solo Tour!

Danny Secretion, drummer and co-vocalist of the Secretions, is going on a solo acoustic tour!

As anyone from Sacramento can attest, when it's Danny Secretion, "Acoustic" isn't a code-word for "pussy." Check him out playing Secretions songs and some original solo material, as can be heard on his MySpace page!

Since the tour includes a number of 21+ bar shows, Danny promised to make himself available to fans of all ages, saying:
If I'm playing a bar show and you're under 21, please get in touch with me and I'll be more than willing to play a renegade set in the parking lot too JUST FOR YOU!!!!

"Hey! Eoin again!" "Wait who the fuck is Eoin?"

Now that we got that out of the way,

Sometime in between paranormal investigations, Indiana Jones marathons, god awful pancakes, chocolate churches, peanut butter n jelly stir fry, and creepy stalkers in the last 2 days we've managed to get about 300 mail-orders out. Thanks to Adam and Danny admission for being adorable and doing special guest love notes, be expecting some saucy, kafkaesk notes from a few underage boys, oh la la! The WWHRD? And IT! HAS BEGUN! Shirts arrived and got packed, don't worry! its gona be ok!

If you weren't at Danny Secretions lame ass birthday bash, congratulations, you just let the terrorists win asshole. Me, Avi, Vince, and Liz all made peanut butter n jelly samiches and handed 'em out to all the hungry hungry hipsters and punk rockers to gobble on. We are gona try and do that at most shows we make it to with bands on SS and even shows we have no business at. The idea of the show was The Helper Monkeys, The Knockoffs, Ashtray, Final Summation and The Secretions (featuring Kepi) covered songs by The Descendents, The Sex Pistols, Operation Ivy, The Clash and The Ramones. Yea, neat I know! Neater still we recorded the entire show (and will tell you why when you're older)

Thanks to Liz and Samantha Marie for taking PICTURES!

6/19/2007: Punk Rock Three-Way

Hi!
Friendly Neighborhood Intern here, hacking the Springman site to tell you about things!

things
1. The Secretions, Ashtray, Final Summation Punk Rock Three-Way is freaking amazing. You have no idea. I was stuck in traffic during my gorram lunch break for 45 minutes today, morphing said lunch break into more of lunch chow-down-run-ah-go!, but I wasn't even angry about it 'cause I got to listen to the three-way the whole time. It is amazing.

2. I have three very thick chin hairs growing on my chin. You can't really see them, but I can feel them, so I keep fingering'm. Oh, and I am a girl. So it's like weird.

3. Lolbots.com is freaking hilarious.
see also;

4. Fuck the Fantastic Four.

5. Buy Treephort records in mass quantities. Do it not only because it will be enjoyable, but because it will better your outlook on life.
Brain Thoughts:
"gee, I work hard for not enough pay. I can barely get by financially. But, instead of saving all my money and spending it wisely, I should give said money to people who tried to make a career out of playing music while live grasshopers were glued to their face."
That will undoubtedly make you feel better about your financial situation. Scout's honor.

The End.

6/06/2007: We Secrete And You Suck!

LOTS going on right now in the world of the Secretions.

Paul had his birthday party at The Boardwalk and got completely trashed and forgot how to play all his songs, jumped around with a silly hat on and spit a lot making it a great party fun time!

The Secretions just self-released a new record called The Rock-N-Roll Three-way with their friends Final Summation and Last Chance. Three songs from each band, it very seriously rips, on their very own Drool City Records and available through Springman Mail-order RIGHT HERE.

Another very big Secretions project is in the works, I'll tell you all about that on Monday... Along with some very exciting news for you collector geeks on The Phenomenauts and Big D And The Kids Table!

The Secretions spent this past week at Sacramento's Pus Cavern recording their upcoming alum, Faster Than The Speed Of Drunk, and HOLY SHIT it fucking rocks, this will be their best CD yet. I'm in the mix on the new recording of "Freaks Like Us" yelling "Nice haircut, asshole!" and in a few other places with some gang-vocals.
I'll be bothering you a lot more about this over the next few months, the CD will be out this summer to be ready for the band's national tour with Final Summation!

1/31/2007: Some updates, some class

School started this week so I've been behind on website updates, but not on mail-order! The post office is getting sick of seeing me every day and has been making me put stamps on all the packages by hand.
The Tera Melos pre-orders have been sent but may take up to a week since most of you ordered with "Media Mail" shipping. It took a week to send them all since they're very securely wrapped in cardboard to avoid damage, sorry to keep you waiting but this one will be worth it! E-mail the address listed up on the top of this website if you have any questions on that.

Some quick updates:

The Springman Records showcase in Sacramento on Friday was a huge success and lots of fun, thank you all for coming out! I especially enjoyed handing out cupcakes and shark-themed 3D glasses to everyone before The Phenomenauts' set, even though the 3D glasses had nothing to do with anything.
The Shecretions built some AMAZING games out of cardboard that we didn't get to use since it was so crowded and I was on crutches, but I saved them in my closet and will bring them out to future events so you can throw the red rocket in the black hole and blast Skelator! Hopefully they'll also be into setting up the Kissing-Booth...

Tera Melos is on tour with The Fall Of Troy and running out of merch.

Big D And The Kids Table's pre-order for the Brain Failure split starts in.. Shit, 15 minutes, I better set that up, check back in an hour.

The Phenomenauts, Teenage Harlets, Groovie Ghoulies and Epoxies have something epic up their sleeve that I'll tell you about later.

Jason Webley is in Europe.

And get comfortable with the idea of your favorite record of 2007 being called Huge Black Man just so this doesn't catch you off-guard once it finally drops.

12/08/2006: Wax Tracks

A quick reminder before I start this update:

Check out our holiday deals! Lots of music is listed to the right, including special low-prices for compilation and Phenomenauts related packages. Our prices are low, the music awesome, and mail-order is getting sent out three times a week, so hurry up and purchase your friend's love for the new year!

On to the news:

Check out Big D And The Kids Table's website for studio updates as they record their upcoming full-length for our friends at Side One Dummy! The demo's for their new songs are incredible, come March or April when that record comes out, we will all be in for quite a treat.
To hold us over until then, their split CD with Brain Failure (from China!) will be released on February 20th on Bad News Records. We are pleased to announce that the vinyl version will be on Springman with a limited pressing of 1,000 on colored wax! More info on that one soon.

Thanks to everyone who gave "five-star" ratings to The Phenomenauts music video for "Mission" over at MySpace.com, putting us on their front-page for a week and getting over 110,000 full video views!!! I still can't believe that happened, and would like to welcome all the brand new cadets to this here lovely website.
The Phenomenauts have just a few shows booked right now that we will be announcing very soon, but will be back with a very triumphant return in March or April with loads of new material and effects! And hey, with all these new songs, you never know whats just around the space-corner...

The Teenage Harlets will be doing a little west-coast tour in January with our idols in The Rock And Roll Adventure Kids! Also in the works is a series of super-sweet split 7"'s that we'll be telling you more about going into 2007.

Tera Melos is doing a shit-load of shows all over the country with The Fall Of Troy! They just got out of the studio too, and if we can get our shit together on time for this tour, well, I'll tell you later, just be excited. Be very excited.

And finally, thank you to TUK Shoes for hooking up The Phenomenauts, Big D And The Kids Table and The River City Rebels! When you see us looking all bad-ass and tall, its TUK's fault.

I just got these pretty red ones:

OK Happy Holidays everyone. I will now go back to filling your mail-orders and finishing my homework (The semester is almost over! I have 60 more pages to write!) -- OH, and if you live in Sacramento and happen to be coming out for KWOD's "Twisted Christmas" concert at the Arco Arena later today (Friday), I will personally be dressed up like that guy from My Chemical Romance and doing some WWE shit that would make Andy Kaufman proud up on stage during The Secretions' set! They play first, so get there early! We will be bringing the real Black Parade. If you don't have $35, don't worry, we'll post it on YouTube. I'm excited about seeing Gnarles Barkley and MCR.

11/27/2006: File under "W.T.F."

To close this year with a bang, on December 8th The Secretions will be getting kicked out of Sacramento's Arco Arena for fucking with Gnarles Barkley, Papa Roach and My Chemical Romance. The Secretions will also be opening the show.

The flier doesn't even mention the other bands. I love it! More info online here.

Tickets are $35 so you might have to try and win some or sneak in. Thank you to all the Secretin's that voted, you fucking rock! If the video we shoot doesn't get taken by the cops as evidence, we will be posting it on youtube shortly after the show.
Don't tell anyone, but I'm actually kind of excited about getting to see those other bands.

If $35 is to much, see The Groovie Ghoulies with The Living End at The Boardwalk that same night!

8/24/2006: Sunshine, rainbows and glitter

Kepi from The Groovie Ghoulies will be on NPR Sacramento (88.9FM) today at 2pm pacific time talking about (what else does he know?) punk rock! You can listen online right here.
===
The Phenomenauts are on a national tour right now with Left Alone, then The River City Rebels and The Teenage Harlets (tour dates on myspace)! And, Big D And The Kids Table has some shows coming up with Rancid (tour dates on myspace)!
===
It's rare that I'll ask you to vote for something when its up against bands like Pain or Dillinger Four since both Pain and Dillinger Four are such fucking awesome bands, you have no business being on this website if you don't have their records (unless you are using this website to order the Pain records), but I digress, this request is special.

The Teenage Harlets are in the running to be the #1 band this week on PunkRadioCast, a friggen awesome online radio station incase you didn't know. We would GREATLY APPRECIATE if you could click this link below here and then vote for The Teenage Harlets once a day until Sunday. Don't hack it or we get disqualified, just go click it for real. If we win, I'll bring cupcakes to their next bunch of shows, no joke.

And if you live within six hours of San Francisco, come to their CD release show on Friday at The Covered Wagon Annie's Social Club, with the Secretions, Thee Merry Widows, Rock And Roll Adventure Kids, and Flexx Bronco! I'll be there, the drunk obnoxious one that isn't Johnny.

7/13/2006: The Secretions finally win something!

Danny Secretion must have been going all-out in the oral-treats department while hanging out at the Sac News And Review office, as his band has finally won a Sammie award for "Best Sacramento Punk Band!"

The Secretions have been nominated for the past fifty straight years without winning once, we were seriously ready to burn the SN&R offices to the ground. We are actually kind of bummed that we don't get to use all these nifty explosives, but congratulations to the Secretions for finally winning what we knew they should have had all along, and to the Sac News And Review for getting it right!

Tera Melos were also nominated in the contest for "Best Metal Band" (yea we know they aren't metal, but since the Melos doesn't really fit in anywhere, its all cool). Nobody called me to say if Tera Melos won anything, but if they did, I'll let you know and we'll have a big taco-party.

And don't forget, THESE BANDS ARE ON TOUR:
(clicky clicky click click for dates on their myspace pages since our website is still broken)

The Teenage Harlets
Secretions
Big D And The Kids Table
The Phenomenauts
Jason Webley
Groovie Ghoulies (and Haints!)

Lots more exciting things are in the works, stay tuned for updates. Come back over the next few days for everyone's updated summer tour dates. And thanks again for all your support!

4/17/2006: We just signed THE TEENAGE HARLETS!!!

You probably know them from their extensive touring with Springman bands like The Groovie Ghoulies, Phenomenauts, Secretions, Jason Webley, and their spot on our Space Station stage on the Warped Tour a few years back.. But just incase, check out their page on MySpace.com or read about them right here:

The TEENAGE HARLETS don't play rock & roll -- they play danger. Flying a defiant finger in the face of the San Francisco garage scene since 1999, TEENAGE HARLETS style rock has no tiresome monologs, no politics, no talking, no tuning, no fancy knobs or effects. They play revved up, stripped down, non-stop short attention-span surf-garage-punk-rock-mayhem that will have you singing and dancing while you run for your life. Worried? No need to fear. Thanks to Springman Records and the latest in garage-based recording technology, you can dance along in the relative safety of your own home as the HARLETS tear through 22 songs in 30 minutes on their new record, Up the Fixx, in stores July 11th July 25th, 2006.

In other news,

This will probably be the ONLY Groovie Ghoulies show this year:

I really don't know what they're thinking letting the Secretions play this family event.

AND, We just updated the Tour Dates page, lots of new shows for the entire Springman family.

4/15/2006: Sac Rock City

Sacramento Update #1:
The Secretions' myspace.com page now has two brand new songs available for your listening pleasure! Jerkin' Off To You from their upcoming three-way-split with Ashtray and Sex Tape Scandal, and Stupid Fuckin' Vegan from the upcoming Queers tribute record being organized by Joe Queer himself. Go listen now, both songs kick the donkey's ass.

Sacramento Update #2:
Last night, a gigantic drunk gentleman was stumbling around in the street right outside my temporary residence at 23rd and P (the Brilliant Red Lights' apartment). We came out onto the balcony to see if he needed a cab or some water. After some friendly conversation, he tried to kick his way into the apartment, smashing his foot through the door, before falling eight feet off the steps onto his face. He then bled everywhere, and tried to fight off the fire-men who put him onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

4/05/2006: Rock Tease

We signed a new band! They shouldn't be new to any of you, since they've been touring for years with just about everyone on our roster including The Phenomenuats, Big D, Jason Webley, The Groovie Ghoulies and even The Secretions... Who is this band? I'll tell you later. But their new album has 22 songs played over 30 minutes, and comes out July 11th.

AND, The Secretions just posted a live video on their MySpace for Freaks Like Us!
