Pre-order exclusive vinyl from Big D And The Kids Table and The Phenomenauts along with the upcoming Secretions CD over at SilverSprocketLabs.com!!! It is the same mail-order as Springman Records, so feel free to combine your order with things on this here awesome website.
This is our new mail-order elf Trina. She will make sure you get your order quick and will also flirt with you over myspace.com:
I can't even tell you who these guys are, but they'll light your face on fire unless you do exactly what we say:
Springman Records is fucking dead. Long live Silver Sprocket.
Big D And The Kids Table were fucking awesome at The Fillmore on Thursday night as part of their current tour with Anti Flag!
Remember this one from a few years back? I am just SO FUNNY!!! Sorry. Anyway,
Big D's latest album, Strictly Rude on Side One Dummy Records, blows my mind. I haven't felt this way about a ska record since hearing Op Ivy's Energy and Less Than Jake's Pezcore for the first time. Here is a stream of the first track, Steady Riot, it reminds me of Sound System and Soundcheck (funny how similar those song-names are), click play!
The Fillmore was where my friends and I would go to see our favorite gigantic bands years and years ago. I usually wouldn't care about shit like this, but I am just so incredibly stoked to see my bands playing on that legendary stage, and felt plenty of vicarious pride as the kids standing behind me were yelling out song from albums I helped release.
PLASTIC!!! A Night of 80's Punk Rock and New Wave... besides your favorites bands own songs they will cover a few 80's songs that they will never repeat...awesome...

David McWane from Big D And The Kids Table has a new book coming out! The Gypsy Mile, a collection of poetry and lyrics. McWane has more literature in the works, including a collection of Big D tour-stories, and an original theatrical screen-play.
More information is available on McWane's new website:
See Big D live all over the USA with Anti Flag and then this summer on the entire Warped Tour! == Hey California! March 29: San Francisco, CA @ Bottom Of The Hill March 30: San Luis Obisbo, CA @ Downtown Brew March 31: Petaluma, CA @ The Phoenix Theater == Check out The Teenage Harlets at SXSW this year! All illegal and better than last year. Bring a portable radio/ghetto-blaster with you. Trust me. == In other news, science is totallycrazy!
In the comments, Mr Anonymous asks if people who buy our vinyl-only releases can download the songs on MP3. This is a great idea! It might not be possible for records licensed from other labels (like the Big D/Brain Failure split), but I'm into it for Springman releases and will look into setting it up.
If you mail-ordered the Tera Melos 12" LP and are having trouble finding the MP3s, send an e-mail to the address up on the top of this website, I'll point you in the right direction. == One of my favorite bands in the world right now, The Ging Nang Boyz from Japan, were in town this past week! They are releasing a 12" EP on Bob from Shinobu's very own Phat And Phunky Phonics! I'll obnoxiously remind you about this once it comes out. Watch their crazy video!!
They also have soft and cute songs that generally aren't performed like train-wrecks, but the train-wrecks are very fun to watch.
Here is Chin from The Ging Nang Boyz "playing" with Morgan from Pteradon:
Witch brings me to a demonstration of my newest toy!
-Click to play "Basement Jaxx Plays Attaxx" by Pteradon from the Hella Tight CD! You might like Pteradon if you are into bands like The Dillinger Four and Lawrence Arms, though this is more obnoxious than that, in a good way.
If this thing music-player works I'll be using it a lot more in the near future. Please post a comment to let me know if it works, and if not, what kind of computer and web-browser you're using. Thanks!
School has been nuts, sorry for the lack of week-day updates.
This past week has included LOTS of mail-order (THANK YOU!), we just started sending out the Big D / Brain Failure splits (they will start arriving shortly after the Feb 20 "street-date").
Tera Melos is almost done with their Fall Of Troy tour, and about to join up with my neighbors in The Brilliant Red Lights, who just called me to ask that I break into their apartment and eat the soy corn-dog that Evan left in the microwave this morning.
I don't think there is a good way to say this except for I'm really fuckin' pissed off right now. I hope that all of you have heard about the "bomb scare" in Boston, a guerilla marketing campaign by Cartoon Network to promote the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie that went completely wrong. As a huge Aqua Teen fan I was completely shocked at the city of Boston and the state of Massachusetts embarrassing handling of this situation. There are so many things wrong with how the government treated this situation. It frightens me to think that everyone is so on edge that some blinking plastic lights depicting a middle finger could be considered a terrorist threat. ESPECIALLY, after the signs had been up for over a week in each location. Great work guys, we're all safer now. If you haven't seen the video of the police department blowing up the sign I'd check it out on youtube.
THE SAD PART ABOUT THIS IS the two guys Sean Stevens and Peter Berdovsky, who were hired by the marketing agency, are now being considered for criminal prosecution. They were hired to do a job and it ended up being a disaster. One of my coworkers, Jeremy, is extremely close (with) one of the guys. Jeremy also happens to be a student at Harvard Law School. He's been trying to help them out as much as he possibly can. I asked how I could help to stop this trial. He forwarded me an email giving information on who to call and express concern. I've posted it below. I know they want to make an example out of them but the whole situation is fucked up. The reason why is this. If these guys go to jail they're going to be effected for the rest of their lives. What does Turner Broadcasting get out of it? The best advertisement for a movie someone could possibly ask for. Aqua Teen Hunger Force became a household name where before it was an elite cartoon for the deviant youth. Two people potentially rot in jail and corporate America banks 5 times as much profit off the movie.
Stovetop -------- Here is the email. Please get involved! --------
Everyone, The rumors are not true; charges against peter and Sean have not been dropped. Tomorrow, negotiations are being held and hopefully our friends will be able to walk away from this without any repercussions. A lot of people have been asking what they can do to help. Tomorrow would be the big day for everyone to call (even if you've already called,) and request that the government drop the charges. The earlier we can call the better, I'm not sure exactly what time the negotiations take place. And be sure to mention you live in Boston and/or Massachusetts, and vote.
Martha coakley (617) 727-2200 Mayor menino (617) 635-4500 Governor Patrick (617) 725-4005
These calls are incredibly simple. It takes less than ten minutes to call all three numbers, and the people who answer the phones are very easy to talk to. It was mentioned to me for us to sound as educated and normal as possible. We don't want to sound like a bunch of far out hippie artist punk kids. We want to sound like responsible constituents who are going to vote against those who persecute the innocent under the guise of being tough on terror.
Please pass this on to your friends, loved ones, email lists, and anyone who know who supports the cause.
Check out Big D on tour this March and April with Anti Flag, then on the Warped Tour all summer! And scroll down a bit to order their upcoming split with Brain Failure.
The upcoming Big D And The Kids Table / Brain Failure split LP, From Beijing To Boston, is now available for pre-order! These will ship once we get them, aiming for a February 20 delivery. This very limited LP seriously rips, and is being pressed on thick & beautiful, crazy-colored virgin-vinyl. Order yours now!
*The CD is being released by our friends at Bad News Records, but you can now order it from us too!
P.S. Speaking of Boston, I can't believe they freaked out so hard over a light-bright! We all played with light-brights growing up! They should resign for being such idiots.
School started this week so I've been behind on website updates, but not on mail-order! The post office is getting sick of seeing me every day and has been making me put stamps on all the packages by hand. The Tera Melos pre-orders have been sent but may take up to a week since most of you ordered with "Media Mail" shipping. It took a week to send them all since they're very securely wrapped in cardboard to avoid damage, sorry to keep you waiting but this one will be worth it! E-mail the address listed up on the top of this website if you have any questions on that.
Some quick updates:
The Springman Records showcase in Sacramento on Friday was a huge success and lots of fun, thank you all for coming out! I especially enjoyed handing out cupcakes and shark-themed 3D glasses to everyone before The Phenomenauts' set, even though the 3D glasses had nothing to do with anything. The Shecretions built some AMAZING games out of cardboard that we didn't get to use since it was so crowded and I was on crutches, but I saved them in my closet and will bring them out to future events so you can throw the red rocket in the black hole and blast Skelator! Hopefully they'll also be into setting up the Kissing-Booth...
Tera Melos is on tour with The Fall Of Troy and running out of merch.
Big D And The Kids Table's pre-order for the Brain Failure split starts in.. Shit, 15 minutes, I better set that up, check back in an hour.
The Phenomenauts, Teenage Harlets, Groovie Ghoulies and Epoxies have something epic up their sleeve that I'll tell you about later.
Jason Webley is in Europe.
And get comfortable with the idea of your favorite record of 2007 being called Huge Black Man just so this doesn't catch you off-guard once it finally drops.
Don't forget, come back to SpringmanRecords.com on February 1st to pre-order Big D And The Kids Table and Brain Failure's split LP, From Beijing To Boston, on limited-edition splatter-vinyl!

On to the news:
Check out Big D And The Kids Table's website for studio updates as they record their upcoming full-length for our friends at Side One Dummy! The demo's for their new songs are incredible, come March or April when that record comes out, we will all be in for quite a treat. To hold us over until then, their split CD with Brain Failure (from China!) will be released on February 20th on Bad News Records. We are pleased to announce that the vinyl version will be on Springman with a limited pressing of 1,000 on colored wax! More info on that one soon.
Thanks to everyone who gave "five-star" ratings to The Phenomenauts music video for "Mission" over at MySpace.com, putting us on their front-page for a week and getting over 110,000 full video views!!! I still can't believe that happened, and would like to welcome all the brand new cadets to this here lovely website. The Phenomenauts have just a few shows booked right now that we will be announcing very soon, but will be back with a very triumphant return in March or April with loads of new material and effects! And hey, with all these new songs, you never know whats just around the space-corner...
The Teenage Harlets will be doing a little west-coast tour in January with our idols in The Rock And Roll Adventure Kids! Also in the works is a series of super-sweet split 7"'s that we'll be telling you more about going into 2007.
Tera Melos is doing a shit-load of shows all over the country with The Fall Of Troy! They just got out of the studio too, and if we can get our shit together on time for this tour, well, I'll tell you later, just be excited. Be very excited.
And finally, thank you to TUK Shoes for hooking up The Phenomenauts, Big D And The Kids Table and The River City Rebels! When you see us looking all bad-ass and tall, its TUK's fault.
I just got these pretty red ones:
OK Happy Holidays everyone. I will now go back to filling your mail-orders and finishing my homework (The semester is almost over! I have 60 more pages to write!) -- OH, and if you live in Sacramento and happen to be coming out for KWOD's "Twisted Christmas" concert at the Arco Arena later today (Friday), I will personally be dressed up like that guy from My Chemical Romance and doing some WWE shit that would make Andy Kaufman proud up on stage during The Secretions' set! They play first, so get there early! We will be bringing the real Black Parade. If you don't have $35, don't worry, we'll post it on YouTube. I'm excited about seeing Gnarles Barkley and MCR.
Check out Tera Melos on tour all January and February with Fall Of Troy!!! Final dates coming soon, but for now check out the tentative info on the Fall Of Troy website. == We've gotten way to much e-mail about this:
Big D And The Kids Table's next album will be on Side One Dummy Records. This is GREAT news for both us and for Big D. We are incredibly stoked on what we were able to accomplish for the band over these past two years and glad we were able to be such a great launching point for them. Our involvement with the band is far from over, and some of the band's best material ever is in the process of being recorded.
As a personal note, I started going to college full time about a year ago, and began very actively searching out new label homes for our bands, labels that could do more than we could. Springman by no means folding or closing down, but with my #1 priority for two years being school instead of the rock-n-roll, it wouldn't be fair for me to hold anyone back. Over this time, our entire roster has made incredible leaps and bounds. Big D is the first band to have some pretty rad announcements in this field, but look out for the rest of our roster to be graduating very shortly, and we couldn't be happier with our accomplishments. And don't worry, there is a new generation of absolutely incredible bands that we are working with full time, and the old guard won't be disappearing anytime soon. == I'm glad organizations like Google are doing things like this. I'm not sure if it really means anything so far, but they have resources and are thinking about it. In related news, the Logan Whitehurst website is back online at this temporary URL while Michael gets the .com back: http://www.loganwhitehurst.net We would be glad to host any MP3s or anything else if we can be of service. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you very seriously need to find out. Scroll down, and click/click/click.
I hope you had a safe and fun Halloween. Things at Springman HQ are BONKERS! Thank you for coming here for your Holiday shopping needs, we have lots of great cheap CDs and we appreciate your keeping our mail-order department super busy.
Here is a band-by-band update!
The Phenomenauts just announced another round of dates with The Toasters coming up this month! Visit their MySpace page for the details, and check back next week for EVEN MORE shows.
The Phenomenauts' Annual Zombie Party was incredible as usual this year, with a surprise appearance by The Teenage HarNuts:
Those with a good memory may remember The PhenomeNuts from last-year:
Big D And The Kids Table just played two epic Halloween parties in Boston at The Avalon! If you have pictures or video from either show, please post it online for us to share! Big D just got done playing a bunch of shows with The Toasters, I like how they play with our bands on both coasts. Check out Big D on tour with Rancid in December! Visit Big D on Myspace for tour updates.
The Groovie Ghoulies are almost done with their own Cramps tour, including their own Halloween show at The Fillmore in San Francisco! Check back soon for LOTS AND LOTS of shows all over California and more Ghoulie news... Updates on their MySpace page.
Tera Melos just got back from an epic tour with The Fall Of Troy! There is no rest for the awesome, Tera Melos will be recording for an EP CD this weekend. Three songs, it will be about 30 minutes, I guess that's an EP? They played almost all new songs on this Fall Of Troy tour, if you caught any of the sets, you ARE EXTREMELY EXCITED about these upcoming recordings. Stay tuned to Tera Melos' myspace page for more news and tour updates.
The Secretions are in the running to play the "Twisted Christmas" show at the Arco Arena in Sacramento! This would be the hugest show they have ever played, and our boys would get to make total asses of My Chemical Romance and Papa Roach. They won't make fun of Gnarls Barkley though. PLEASE!!!! Click here to vote. You have to register with KWOD first, it only takes a minute and if you click the box, they won't send you any annoying e-mails or ever bug you ever again.
Lots of Secretions shows coming up all over CA (and even Reno), visit them on MySpace for show listings and other news updates, and word on Danny Secretions new radio show!
Jason Webley just got back from tour Australia with The Dresden Dolls! Check him out this November touring the West Coast with a full band, including Jherek of The Dead Science and Xiu Xiu. If you attend one of the shows, please draw a unicorn for Jherek and tell him it's from me (Avi). This year's big Seattle show will be on November 11 instead of the usual Halloween! Tour dates and other updates are on Jason's website.
The Teenage Harlets are laying low, having started a big fight with The Phenomenauts over their "Free Angel Nova" t-shirt.. Just kidding! See them on tour all January and February, including a bunch of dates with our secret crushes in The Rock And Roll Adventure Kids! Add them on MySpace if you're fifteen years old.
The River City Rebels just got back from a very strange national fly-away tour of free shows paid for by a big evil cigarette company. I know lots of hippies who smoke, but none smoke independently made cigarettes, so eat a dick. It was a great tour, and debuted a bunch of The Rebels fucking incredible new songs! Stay tuned for more news on that. Listen on their MySpace page!
The Rum Diary has been laying low, but has a brand new drummer and will start playing again next month! Stay tuned for news on that too. And check out their limited edition four-way-split 7" with The Jade Shader, Facing New York, and Years Around The Sun!!! Visit them too on MySpace. And check out Daniel's almost finished solo-project, Identical Homes, its panty-dropping music.

In other news, HELLA TIGHT has been in heavy rotation at the downtown Sacramento post office for the past four days.
Check out the latest PodCast from TopWelt on their MySpace page, featuring an interview with yours-truly along with Big D And The Kids Table! The show basically turned into the Springman episode with nearly exclusive content from our bands, and a contest where five winners get a free Springman Records shirt. And for the record I really like Fall Out Boy a lot and have even been known to get cut off at Kareoke bars for doing to good of a job on that "Sugar, we're going down swinging" song where you can't tell what the hell he's saying, but that's just because I love them so much and was just kind of drunk when this interview took place. Here is a direct link to the big fat MP3 file of the entire hour-long show.
Silver Sprocket is a bicycle club, not a record label. We like punk rock, beer, sin, and robots.
