This weekend we are finally recording our second full length album at Art of Ears studio in Hayward. It will be coming out on SSBC - the same label as our favorite band and good friends Secretions.
Holy fuck, The Phenomenauts CD release show at Slims in SF this past Saturday was incredible! Vic from The Slackers played a surprise set with our very own Jimmy Boom on drums, King Kukulele cracked everyone up on his tiny guitar, Maldroid and The Lovemakers rocked as usual, then The Phenomenauts came out with a whole new stage show and tons of new songs. This was an incredibly fun night, thanks to everyone who came out, and sorry to those of you who waited in line for hours and still couldn't get in -- we're working on a way to make it up to you right now.
Chuck P has some competition! A few weeks ago at the Javalounge in Sacramento, Ashtray debuted a brand new song called S.S.B.C.
It's been stuck in my head all week in the best possible way, and the words aren't even final yet. This is going to be part of Ashtray's full length album to be released later this year on Silver Sprocket!
Sometime in between paranormal investigations, Indiana Jones marathons, god awful pancakes, chocolate churches, peanut butter n jelly stir fry, and creepy stalkers in the last 2 days we've managed to get about 300 mail-orders out. Thanks to Adam and Danny admission for being adorable and doing special guest love notes, be expecting some saucy, kafkaesk notes from a few underage boys, oh la la! The WWHRD? And IT! HAS BEGUN! Shirts arrived and got packed, don't worry! its gona be ok!
If you weren't at Danny Secretions lame ass birthday bash, congratulations, you just let the terrorists win asshole. Me, Avi, Vince, and Liz all made peanut butter n jelly samiches and handed 'em out to all the hungry hungry hipsters and punk rockers to gobble on. We are gona try and do that at most shows we make it to with bands on SS and even shows we have no business at. The idea of the show was The Helper Monkeys, The Knockoffs, Ashtray, Final Summation and The Secretions (featuring Kepi) covered songs by The Descendents, The Sex Pistols, Operation Ivy, The Clash and The Ramones. Yea, neat I know! Neater still we recorded the entire show (and will tell you why when you're older)
Thanks to Liz and Samantha Marie for taking PICTURES!
Just kidding, we don't sign bands, we just jump them into our bicycle gang.
For your own good, check out ASHTRAY, from Santa Rosa, CA. Trust me on this one. Loud, fast, obnoxious and fun. They like old crusty bands like BLATZ and FILTH.
Click "play" to hear one of my favorite songs, "Punk Rock Candy Mountain"!!! From the The Rock n Roll Three-way CD!
The most fun I've had going to punk shows over the past two years has been at ASHTRAY shows. I wish I had some better pictures of them, but I'm always to busy going nuts to take any good ones, so these are from Liz.
Be friends with Ashtray on MySpace if you're into that sort of thing. While you're at it, be friends with us too! Pay attention for an Ashtray full-length in 2008.
Bad-news: We will not be distributing Tera Melos' "Drugs To The Dear Youth" CD to stores as originally planned. Sorry about that, it is outside of our control. It might eventually be distributed by Sargent House, the management company the Melos' just joined up with. We still have a few available for mail-order.
And check out Danny Secretion singing with Ashtray!
Come back tomorrow for a major update with headlining tour dates from The Phenomenauts and Big D And The Kids Table!
Hi! Friendly Neighborhood Intern here, hacking the Springman site to tell you about things!
things 1. The Secretions, Ashtray, Final Summation Punk Rock Three-Way is freaking amazing. You have no idea. I was stuck in traffic during my gorram lunch break for 45 minutes today, morphing said lunch break into more of lunch chow-down-run-ah-go!, but I wasn't even angry about it 'cause I got to listen to the three-way the whole time. It is amazing.
2. I have three very thick chin hairs growing on my chin. You can't really see them, but I can feel them, so I keep fingering'm. Oh, and I am a girl. So it's like weird.
3. Lolbots.com is freaking hilarious. see also;
4. Fuck the Fantastic Four.
5. Buy Treephort records in mass quantities. Do it not only because it will be enjoyable, but because it will better your outlook on life. Brain Thoughts: "gee, I work hard for not enough pay. I can barely get by financially. But, instead of saving all my money and spending it wisely, I should give said money to people who tried to make a career out of playing music while live grasshopers were glued to their face." That will undoubtedly make you feel better about your financial situation. Scout's honor.
Silver Sprocket is a bicycle club, not a record label. We like punk rock, beer, sin, and robots.
