Just announced: The Phenomenauts, AKA's, and Maldroid will be playing the official Anti-Flag after-party in Philly on Sat May 3rd. Special guest acoustic performance by someone obvious that we can't announce. $5, 8pm @ 941 THEATER.
Or, Go here for more pictures of the lovely Amy and Vanessa modeling these new shirts!
This weekend we are finally recording our second full length album at Art of Ears studio in Hayward. It will be coming out on SSBC - the same label as our favorite band and good friends Secretions.
In case you couldn't get in, check out this stellar video of The Phenomenauts intro from their sold out CD release show at Slims in the San Francisco sector last month!
The Phenomenauts have been confirmed as headliner for the local band stage at Live 105's big outdoor BFD festival at Shoreline Amphitheater June 7th! Last time I went to BFD, AFI was headlining this stage, and this year's show has a great line-up with some of our favorite bands like Alkaline Trio and Flogging Molly.
Major thanks to Live 105, and tons of radio stations across the country, for playing The Phenomenauts new album. As an independent record label run out of a tiny apartment, we think it is especially extra awesome of these folks to give us a chance and be so nice. And thank YOU for calling in and requesting The Phenomenauts, it really does help.
Stay tuned for word of a top secret Philadelphia show Saturday May 3rd. Details are still under wraps, but there will be an unannounced appearance by a pretty awesome and huge band that we are friends with. Also coming next month, a brand new animated video...
Like beer and waffles, our very own Secretions go so well with wrestling that taking Darwin seriously becomes increasingly difficult.
While we can never quite figure out the relationship between Danny Secretion and El Flaco Loco, once of Incredibly Strange Wrestling and now of Supreme Pro Wrestling, the band has performed live at PunkSlam Pro Wrestling in 2007, and even got thrown around a little at a North American Wrestling event, earning a shot the NAW Myspace Championship as seen in this ridiculous video right here:
The Secretions are at it once again, and will be working with CHIKARA, a prominent Philadelphia-based pro wrestling promotion known for ignoring the laws of gravity and physics with wrestling moves no Cirque du Soleil performer would ever consider attempting, as their song "Viva La Lucha Libre" will be the theme to the huge "Rey de Voladores" show scheduled for this summer.
Check out the world premiere of the trailer, just posted on YouYube.com moments ago:
The Secretions will also be recording a theme song specifically for this company, and will be working with various wrestlers in coming up with personalized entrance themes! You may even see the band making its way to the city of brotherly love to unleash some Lucha-Mania!
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. Viva La Lucha Libre can be heard on the Secretions latest album, Faster Than The Speed Of Drunk!
Eoin just put a super epic blog post up on the Silver Sprocket MySpace, go read it right now! I still don't understand how MySpace works, but I hope this link to the blog does.
Tired of only knowing who two or three of the bands in Nothing Nice To Say's annual "best records of the year" series?
I am fucking stoked beyond comprehension to announce Mitch Clem's new record label, Face Palm Records, that we're gonna be handling the business end for. Don't think of it as a Silver Sprocket subsidiary, he has some amazing projects lined up with some amazing bands that will be top priorities right alongside the Silver Sprocket/Springman releases.
Mitch is doing all the artwork, creative stuff, and everything else. Seriously, we're letting him do whatever he wants. Mitch doesn't work for us, we work for him here.
Two of the most exciting bands out there right now are soon finally joining forces for the label's first release, a split 7" sure to melt your brain. Brickfight (Fort Worth, TX) and Shang-A-Lang (Las Cruces, NM) will each be supplying half a vinyl slab's worth of sheer audio awesome. Expect this out pretty soon, because I'm fairly sure no one's gonna be able to wait.
The bicycles belonging to Eoin and Mike from team Sprocket were stolen just an hour or two ago in front of The Crest Theater in Sacramento, CA. This is seriously FUCKED UP.
If you see this bike anywhere around Sacramento please cut someone's head off:
It had stickers like "This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb" and "Groovie Ghoulies" and "racial prejudice is a mental disorder", though they could probably get stripped off pretty easy.
Chances are we can't do anything about this, but this is as good of a time as any for this PSA right here:
1. Don't use coil locks. They suck shit and don't protect you at all, you don't even need any kind of fancy tools to snip these. Get a strong U-Lock. They can still be cut, but it’s a lot harder.
2. Keep pictures of your bike! Have them saved on your computer and ready so if your bike does get stolen, you can quickly post the pictures with a description on MySpace bulletins and your local CraigsList.com. People who steal bikes will then try to sell them as quick as they can to someone near by who also knows about bikes -- meaning that whoever they try to sell the bike to will be someone likely to be keeping an eye on the parts of CraigsList that deal with bikes. While I've heard of other people having luck getting bikes back over CraigsList, my friends have had the best luck with MySpace. Post a bulletin like "Sacramento: Help find my stolen bike!" and call all your friends in town on the phone so they re-post it right away and ask their friends to re-post. The quicker you get the word out the better.
In closing, don't ride parallel right next to train-tracks or you'll totally eat shit like I just did. And keep pictures and a description of your bike on hand and fly towards the sun.

Holy fuck, The Phenomenauts CD release show at Slims in SF this past Saturday was incredible! Vic from The Slackers played a surprise set with our very own Jimmy Boom on drums, King Kukulele cracked everyone up on his tiny guitar, Maldroid and The Lovemakers rocked as usual, then The Phenomenauts came out with a whole new stage show and tons of new songs. This was an incredibly fun night, thanks to everyone who came out, and sorry to those of you who waited in line for hours and still couldn't get in -- we're working on a way to make it up to you right now.
