3/24/2007: Steady Riot, and Phenomenauts + Slackers Dates Big D And The Kids Table were fucking awesome at The Fillmore on Thursday night as part of their current tour with Anti Flag! Remember this one from a few years back? I am just SO FUNNY!!! Sorry. Anyway, Big D's latest album, Strictly Rude on Side One Dummy Records, blows my mind. I haven't felt this way about a ska record since hearing Op Ivy's Energy and Less Than Jake's Pezcore for the first time. Here is a stream of the first track, Steady Riot, it reminds me of Sound System and Soundcheck (funny how similar those song-names are), click play! The Fillmore was where my friends and I would go to see our favorite gigantic bands years and years ago. I usually wouldn't care about shit like this, but I am just so incredibly stoked to see my bands playing on that legendary stage, and felt plenty of vicarious pride as the kids standing behind me were yelling out song from albums I helped release. As it stands, the only current Springman bands to not play The Fillmore are The Teenage Harlets, Tera Melos, The Rum Diary and Secretions. 3/05/2007: Big D gets Literary! Austin, The Harlets are coming! David McWane from Big D And The Kids Table has a new book coming out! The Gypsy Mile, a collection of poetry and lyrics. McWane has more literature in the works, including a collection of Big D tour-stories, and an original theatrical screen-play.
