1/31/2007: Some updates, some class

School started this week so I've been behind on website updates, but not on mail-order! The post office is getting sick of seeing me every day and has been making me put stamps on all the packages by hand.
The Tera Melos pre-orders have been sent but may take up to a week since most of you ordered with "Media Mail" shipping. It took a week to send them all since they're very securely wrapped in cardboard to avoid damage, sorry to keep you waiting but this one will be worth it! E-mail the address listed up on the top of this website if you have any questions on that.

Some quick updates:

The Springman Records showcase in Sacramento on Friday was a huge success and lots of fun, thank you all for coming out! I especially enjoyed handing out cupcakes and shark-themed 3D glasses to everyone before The Phenomenauts' set, even though the 3D glasses had nothing to do with anything.
The Shecretions built some AMAZING games out of cardboard that we didn't get to use since it was so crowded and I was on crutches, but I saved them in my closet and will bring them out to future events so you can throw the red rocket in the black hole and blast Skelator! Hopefully they'll also be into setting up the Kissing-Booth...

Tera Melos is on tour with The Fall Of Troy and running out of merch.

Big D And The Kids Table's pre-order for the Brain Failure split starts in.. Shit, 15 minutes, I better set that up, check back in an hour.

The Phenomenauts, Teenage Harlets, Groovie Ghoulies and Epoxies have something epic up their sleeve that I'll tell you about later.

Jason Webley is in Europe.

And get comfortable with the idea of your favorite record of 2007 being called Huge Black Man just so this doesn't catch you off-guard once it finally drops.

1/25/2007: Comments, Northern-California Springman Showcase

Seriously guys, over 10,000 people read this website each week. "Unique Visitors" it says. Meaning, only 0.01% of you post comments. And when you do, it's not about the rock-n-roll, its about nerdy fantasy books. Thanks, really, this experiment with comments is going well.

1/24/2007: Interviews, PBS, and some nerdy shit

I just found some fun interviews with a whole bunch of our bands over at Sound Scene Revolution. For your listening pleasure and entertainment, listen to their chats with The Phenomenauts, Tera Melos and Jason Webley. Their other interviews are pretty kick-ass too with a ton of my favorite bands, this website will keep me from being at all productive for the rest of this week
==
I talked to someone at PBS months ago about YouTube. It looks like they just pulled a quote from that conversation for a blog post about the future of the music industry on their "MediaShift" website. Not terribly exciting, but my parents will be happy to see my name on PBS.
==
This isn't punk rock at all, but my favorite book series of recent memory, the Song Of Ice And Fire cycle by George RR Martin, is being turned into a TV series by HBO and I am way super excited in the nerdy'est way possible. Read that shit if you want something way better than that Lord Of The Rings total bullshit. Start with "A Game Of Thrones" which is $3.99 on Amazon.com and everywhere else with the latest printing.

1/20/2007: Free Tera Melos, Ghoulies European Invasion!

Want to download the new Tera Melos record for free? Since streaming it at punknews.org obviously isn't good enough for you greedy fucks, ask these guys. I guess Tera Melos is post-punk? They posted it before we even picked up the vinyl, so I'm guessing it's a rip of the punknews.org stream, but have no idea really. Thanks Samantha!

Tera Melos Tour Kickoff

Tera Melos show lineThanks to everyone who came out for last night's Tera Melos tour-kickoff show! It was lots of fun, and the Melos' 3rd consecutive sold-out show at Bottom OF The Hill.

Despite having tickets, these kids got tired of waiting in the line that wrapped around the block.

They now have 344 copies of their 12" EP, Drugs to the Dear Youth, for sale on this tour. That's it! Visit T.M. on MySpace for tour-dates.

1/17/2007: News! Flash! Flash! Flash!

Hey Mitch Clem fans! Scroll down a bit.

Mail-order is all caught up as of this week! If you're still waiting you'll get yours in a few days. Sorry about that, my severely bashed-up ankle got me way behind on everything. See how pretty it is:

ugly foot update

Now hiring: Someone in down-town Sacramento to take these bins of mail-order from my apartment to the post-office! I just tried, and can't carry them down my steps on crutches, even with a skateboard... Fuck. Update: Thanks Evan!
==
Tera Melos is kicking off their national tour with The Fall Of Troy today! Nick just took a big fat shit in my bathroom and left nasty shit-steaks on the bottom of the toilet bowl, but then Nathan took out my trash so I guess its cool.
This will be their first time ever playing the east-coast, so come out and show some love. Immediately after this tour, they'll be playing some more west-coast gigs with The Brilliant Red Lights, who live right across the street. Click the banner below for all the dates!

Tera Melos on The Fall of Troy Winter Tour 2007!

If you missed out on pre-ordering their 12" EP, or are just impatient, you can listen to the whole thing for free right now on PunkNews.org! Click this art for that shit!

==
The first band we ever signed, Shower With Goats (I was 14, stop laughing!), has posted their entire album, Just Another Day, online as a free download. Click here to check that out! I still think it is a great pop-punk record and hope you enjoy it. I still have about 300 of their first 7" stashed away in my mom's garage incase you want one or ten.

==
The Teenage Harlets just wrapped up a west-coast mini-tour with our friends in The Rock N Roll Adventure Kids! The Harlets van, with over 300,000 miles experience, did not make it. But will hopefully be fixed soon!

I'm trying to not talk about exciting projects until they are done so you aren't left waiting forever when things get delayed. But golly, some damn exciting things are in the works.

Nothing Nice To Say

It brings me great giddy pleasure to welcome MITCH CLEM to the Springman Records family! For those of you leading humorless lives, Clem is the mastermind behind two of my favorite web-comics, Nothing Nice To Say (the original punk-rock web-comic) and San Antonio Rock City.

To kick things off, we have two brand-new vinyl stickers in stock and ready for your car so it can finally get you laid:

First we answer the age old question of "How cool would it be if Raffi all of a sudden started a hard-core punk band?"

Bananarchy sticker - $1.00

Next, the only thing you should ever consider:

WWHRD? (What Would Henry Rollins Do?) - $1.00

Coming next week: Buttons!!!

And after that, some more very rad projects that I can't tell you about just yet.

Incase you are new to all this, here are links to some of my very favorite Nothing Nice To Say comics: Suffer II, Androgyny and Me, wymmyynne and Bananarchy. But you should just read them all.

1/13/2007: Adventure Time

This is the most amazing thing I saw at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, complete with flying unicorns, snow demons, Abraham Lincoln and penguins!

In other news, mail-order will be caught-up early next week. Its all packed, but I'm on crutches and suck at walking down stairs. Sorry for the delay if you're waiting for something, I'll have help on Tuesday! [0 Comments]

1/08/2007: NO MORE DRUGS

We pre-sold 125 of Tera Melos' new 12" EP, Drugs To The Dear Youth. This is 25 more than we meant to sell, so you last 25 people got extra lucky squeaking in while I took a nap!

If you snoozed too, your only way to get it is from Tera Melos on their upcoming tour with The Fall Of Troy. If they somehow manage to not sell out of the remaining 375, there is a chance we might have more later, but there's really no way they'll have any left after this tour.
THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO PRE-ORDERED!!!

We have lots more limited edition vinyl projects coming out this year. I don't want to give to much away just yet, but projects are in the works with some very exciting bands from the East Bay (pig-latin for "The Beast"), North Bay and Sacramento.

Big D And The Kids Table and Brain Failure's new split-LP, From Beijing To Boston, will be available for pre-order starting February 1st.

1/07/2007: Johnny Dismal becomes a Phenomenaut

This is an old picture, but still awesome. On 9/16/06 at Bottom Of The Hill, Johnny Dismal of The Teenage Harlets came up to sing a Phenomenauts song! It was pretty ridiculous, he wasn't being a rockstar crowd-surfing, he really was to drunk to stand up by himself.

1/02/2007: Pre-Order the new Tera Melos record!

Drugs to the Dear Youth (12" EP)

Tera Melos says:
there are 100 copies of our new e.p. "Drugs To The Dear Youth" available for pre-order. So just clik on the link. Don't be weirded out by the picture that you see, that is a painting that serves as the cover. Nick worked really hard on it, so just act like it is a totally normal piece of artwork--much like your (and my) parents acted when you brought home a shitty fingerpainting from kindergarten and acted all stoked on it. It is just like that but with colored discs inside that play music. Beat that, stupid little kids. And who are you to judge those creatures? They are in love, so leave them alone. They are about to finger-bang each other and you should be o.k. with that. It is their right. Why does their love freak you out so much? But seriously, as the title suggests, it is all about the
kids...

Hurry up and pre-order before they're all gone and you're left crying like a big sad baby.

UPDATE 1/3/07: We have less than 30 left! Thanks to the 70+ of you that ordered over the past 24 hours, this one won't last much longer...

Your Space or Mine?

About this time last year, I made a Springman Records account on MySpace.com, then promptly forgot it existed.

Lets try again! Please be our "friend" and find out about news and exclusive contests and other fun crap.
I hate MySpace to be honest, but we'll stay on top of posting bulletins and things like that so you can know what we're up to. It says we only have 315 friends, which makes it a very exclusive club that you should join. [0 Comments]

1/01/2007: Happy New Years!!!

We will be a day late getting the Tera Melos pre-order link up, so swing back around here Tuesday night to make sure you get one.

Speaking of, Tera Melos played with two more of my favorite bay area bands this weekend, Desa and Judgment Day. The show sold out early and was fucking incredible. One of my favorite parts was Jeff in the back of the room heckling, being hilariously obnoxious and getting dirty looks from people who didn't recognize him as their old guitar player.

You NEED to be familiar with all three of these bands, here is the video-flier from that show below. JD will be playing 924 Gilman St on January 12 with bands that any Phenomenauts' Command Center regular should know and love; Arnocorps, Cookie Mongoloid and The Boweltones.

Link: Judgment Day on MySpace.com

And,

HAPPY NEW YEARS!! We had a super fun party at Springman HQ in Cupertino, major props to all the secret bands for playing. I broke my foot around 4am while attempting some Micahel Jackson dance-moves and am now cant walk, crawling up my steps after getting X-Rays was totally lame.
But here are some pictures, I'll post more as I find them!
