3/24/2006: Website Kind of Fixed

Our catalog is fixed! Online mail-order is working again, AND we have everything back in stock including those Phenomenauts patches everyone keeps asking about! (We are still working on the website re-design though)

Mail-order was backed up a few weeks while Avi had surgery and was away recovering (from his epic battle with the Tiger/Shark/Deer-thing), but is all caught up as of today, so your order will show up early next week if you've been waiting.

In other news, check out the updated Phenomenauts tour dates with The Epoxies and Teenage Bottlerocket! Hopefully The Epoxies will bring their super-hot merch-girl out again for this one.

3/22/2006: Website Tweaking

We're trying something new with the website, the old one was a little broken. Hold tight, it should look pretty sweet within the next week or two.

In other news, new tour dates for everyone are posted below! [0 Comments]

3/17/2006: The Teenage Harlets invade SXSW!

The following is from the Vice Magazine website:

There's these guys called the Teenage Harlets that aren't booked for any SXSW stuff but keep showing up in a van and playing two songs at every event. The van is all hooked up with a PA and amps and all that and they just park in the middle of wherever and start jamming until they get kicked out. They’re like a Hives / New Bomb Turks thing. It was weird when they came to our thing because we thought we were crashing SXSW but then they crashed us so then we became the bad guys. It was like a Marxist Dialectic where the proletariat became the oppressor and it made us feel like farting. [Permalink]

3/13/2006: evil Mutant Hybrids

The office is closed this week as Avi recovers from an epic battle with an evil Tiger/Shark/Deer hybrid. Due to the circumstances, we unfortunately will not be at SXSW this year. [0 Comments]

Springman joins the Lumberjack Mordam family!

Dear friends, fans, and colleagues,

Since deciding to leave RED last year I have done about four months of research into what the best distribution arrangement for Springman Records would be.

I took the time to visit distributors and talk to their sales reps, taking detailed notes on their infrastructure and how their staff members operate. I also talked to the labels on their rosters and interviewed the buyers at a wide range of record stores, including our favorites that have been supporting us for years.

Every distributor has relative strengths and weaknesses, but after extensive research and looking over a number of impressive offers, I am confident in saying that our new deal with the Lumberjack Mordam Music Group is the best option right now for us and our bands.

They really understand how the independent music scene works and what it takes to develop bands. Their sales reps were the most knowledgeable out of any distributors we spoke with about the bands on our roster, and the bands that the artists on our roster look up to.

Their sales reps have a great set of tools at their disposal and the right relationships with buyers to do a good job getting our music out there.

Springman Records is a very unique label in the way we operate and bust ass to help our bands, and Lumberjack-Mordam is one of the few distributors who really understands what we are doing, and how to compliment our existing operations.

There has been a lot of talk lately about The Lumberjack Mordam Music Group since a number of great labels have moved on over the years, but we feel that we will still be in a great company working with many of our favorite labels, including Alternative Tentacles, Asian Man, Bomp/Alive/Disaster, Swami, Chunksaah, Big Wheel, Gravity, Lookout, Red Scare, Thick, Doghouse, Deep Elm, and Sympathy For The Record Industry, along with many labels we are looking forward to learning more about such as Thorp, Facedown, Eulogy, and the rest of their colorful and expansive roster.

And it's nice that their main warehouse, along with half of their sales reps, is right down the street.

Sincerely,
Avi Ehrlich
Label owner, Springman Records [0 Comments]
